We're gonna do some yard crawling this weekend!

Yep, getting up early Saturday morning to do some good ole' junking

that is, 43 miles of junking

it starts in a town about 5 miles from my house

I'm going to be in junking paradise
with all my cronies

I'm getting excited just thinking of it

this girl cannot get up early for work

BUT

for junking, I'll get up in the wee hours of the morning

good thing I work from home

ya know, the big girl job

the one that pays for all my junking!!

It's going to be so much fun...hopefully, Wilderness man will accompany me

he can drive while I scout the places along the highway

Gotta plan in mind

So are you envious yet?

Maybe just a tad?

Okay, we don't have all the cool shows like you do in

Texas, Seattle, and California

but, we have the YARD CRAWL!!

All words that describe these beautiful rooms....

Funny thing, there's a theme that is prevalent in all the pictures

it's WHITE...

I love white...but, when it comes to my own decor

it's not always white

I recently purchased a sectional couch and it's not white

its a light colored green

I've been looking a long time, I mean a long long time, for a sectional..

I wanted this one from Pottery Barn

but it was $ 2500.00...

and I think that's ridiculously expensive for a couch...

I paid 800.00 for the one I purchased

Haven't gotten it yet...it was back ordered!

it was on sale, and they had already sold 15

funny thing though

the guy asked me if I wanted to get the couch scotch guarded...

he did his little spiel about "it costs blah blah blah and if I didn'tt ever use it over the course of 5 years

they would refund my money"

I laughed and said "you don't understand, furniture is very disposable to me...

I probably will not even have it in 2 years, let alone 5"

My current couch has been there less than 2 years..

So, another reason why I couldn't justify the $2500.00

plus. I'm just too darn cheap!!

Being in the antique business makes you always think you

can buy things at auction for less...

However, I think I'm going to splurge and get the floor lamp from Pottery Barn

the one that is in the pic above with the sectional...

it's 319.00...OUCH!!

but, its really cool...

so, here I wait patiently for my new couch to arrive.

I'll take some pics of the room when it arrives

Last night was rainy and dreary...

Wilderness Man is out of town for work...

I couldn't get any yardwork done

I'm totally ignoring the fact that I have to clean my garage out

yep, the garage I can't even park in...

so, what the heck, off to the movies I went...

yes, just me, myself, and I..

my friends all think I'm crazy when I go to the movies by myself...

but, really...

I'm not there to talk to anyone...

I'm there to be emersed and entertained by the movie...

so I decided to go see

Crazy, Stupid, Love

Gotta get in some chick flicks sometime.

AND

it was good...no, actually, it was really good.

It has a great line up of stars...

and it starts out really slow

and sorta

depressing...

but, hang in there...the ending is really good

and it all comes together!!

Out of 5 (5 being the best), I would give it a 3.5...

it was worth the $9.50 entry price.

So, if you get a minute and want to get your mind off

all the things that need to get done...

go see it!

You won't be disappointed.

Sales were not the best but it was a show geared for men...

We are heading to an auction tonight..

OMG- it looks fabulous!

It will be hard to contain myself..

I need to practice control-

I'll have my Wilderness Man (WM) with me...

I know I've told you...

but, he's such a keeper..

I still melt just looking into his green eyes...

hearing his voice...

you get the picture!!

he will keep me in line...

Yeah, that's the ticket...

but I think he's sorta digging the auction thingy..

we went to one last Friday and he spent more than me...

REALLY!!

and now he's starting to put things in my booth...

we might have to have a small chat...just kidding!

he's much more practical than me...

I would rather live on bread and water

and spend my money on junk...

truly!!

last weekend, at the auction, WM bought me a crock for my Valentine's Day gift..

he asked me to buy him an enamelware coffee pot...which I already gave him...

AGAIN, he's a keeper...loves junk!

Its the first time I've ever bought an antique for a gift for a man...

but, I have another surprise for him...

it's not an antique...it relates to fishing!!

he loves fishing, hunting, canoeing, hiking...

essentially anything outdoors..

hence the name, Wilderness Man!!

We have a little fund going so we can buy kayaks...

Romantic, huh?

But, its so much fun!!

now, I know it doesn't look like what

I typically buy for my house

but

it called to me...BIG TIME!!

It's really, I mean. really TALL...

AND NOW

my house is in total disarray!!

and get this....it's making me change my whole look and feel of my decor

no more PINKS and ROSES!!

Noooo, SAY it ain't so...

YEP.....

its sooo true!

BUT, I need to de-clutter and simplify

and so what does that mean I'm going to do with ALL my treasures...

Yep, I'm going to sell it...

and I'm tyring to list items daily or weekly

basically, as I get a free minutes..

good stuff too!!

I'll probably regret letting some stuff go

BUT...

it's time!!

Funny thing,

yesterday as we were moving a new piece of furniture into my house

the new beau (AKA...Wilderness Man...I'll explain later) said to me with a chuckle...

ever since I've known you all I've done is move furniture..

it made me laugh!!

Partly because it is sooooo true!!

If there's even the slightest doubt you have a serious decorating and junking problem..

answer the following questions...

and join...

Junkers Aanonymous !!

Believe me...your in good company!!

Here are some tell tale signs that you need to sign up....IMMEDIATELY!!

Do not pass go, Do not collect 200 dollars...just sign UP!! Drum ROLL PLEASSSE!

You have a truck for the sole purpose of junking
You can't park your car in the garage because your junk has taken over
You buy items to sell but they just don't seem to get to your booth (in fact, your new trinket has found a nice little spot on the mantle, or in the bathroom, or on the coffee table)
You dream of rearranging your house
You go to put items in your booth and come home with treasures from other booths
Your non-junking friends tell you that you have a problem or that your a hoarder...lol

But this is when it really dawned on me...and this is a true story!!

During one of my many moves...

I not only have a junking problem...but I have a house fetish as well...

I've bought 4 houses over the past 7 years...

Funny thing is that any time I stay in a house for more than 2 years

my family starts asking me when will I be moving again...

secretly, I think its so they can all be out of town when the move occurs!

btw...I'm on the hunt for one right now..

No really...bad house market and all!!

BUT, I digress..

back to the story...

and this happened awhile ago..

So, there I am in my truck...heading to the new home..the truck loaded to the hilt..

envision, if you will...

I've almost made it to the new house..

mind you, the husband is waiting for my arrival...

and there it was...in all its glory!!

AN AUCTION SIGN...

my truck went on auto pilot...I swear it did...or at least that's my story

and I'm sticking to it!!

Yes, I did the unthinkable and went to go check out the auction that was in progress...

YEP- I sure did!!

How happy do you think my husband was when I got to the house a couple of hours later

and told him we needed to go pick up some furniture

at the auction house!!

Right then, I knew I was HOOKED!!

True story...

Do Overs....

I have no regrets in my life....

of course, I've made some mistakes...

we all have...

but, I wouldn't change a THING!

I am who I am because of these choices!

BUT.....

if I could have a "do over"..

it would be to have an actual wedding-

nothing big or fancy...

when I married I did not have the fairy tale wedding...

I was married at the house of the Justice of the Peace...

my witness was his cat named "klutz"

funny, huh?

So ,as I was perusing blogland...

I came across the most amazing wedding..

and it made me think...

if I had a "do-over"

my do over wedding would look like this...

I love it...rust, romance, and chic!!

And no, I'm not getting married...

just having a little moment!!

Tough Love....

Another saga in my life is my son....

Understanding, empathy, compassion, support, comforting, nurturing and believing are all words

that describe how I've tried to parent him...

to no avail...

and so,

I've been left to parent him by....

tough love is not easy...

it keeps you up at night...

wake less hours upon end...

consumed with self doubt...am I doing the right thing?

worried there will be dire consequences...

but in the end...

when all else fails...

there are no other choices ....

(in my opinion that is)

Don't get me wrong, my son, who is now 24, has had some hard times...

his Dad (my husband) died a quick death (3 months) of cancer when he was 16

at the time, he was an honor student taking advance placement courses...

after my husbands passing things changed

no, there were little signs of trouble beforehand

but, nothing of what was to come...

he began skipping school,

at one point, threatened suicide

all addressed by counseling

BUT

NOTHING

worked

he, finally dropped out of school

disrespected every rule in the house...

out of anger, broke furniture

put holes in the walls..

laid around the house doing nothing...

(yes, he was on medication for depression)

I would come home from work with nothing but a mess in the house...

with him laying on the couch playing video games with his friends

endless parties at all hours of the night,

(I would ask his friends to leave but they would not)

sneaking out of the house,

partying was his way of life,

this is putting my life style at the time lightly...

FINALLY.....

my family and I convinced him to join the Air Force

he took his GED and soon joined

now 5 years later

I received a phone call yesterday

the military kicked him out

not even the military would tolerate his behavior...

he stayed with numerous friends prior to joining the military ...

and they all kicked him out...

so, now what?

he is in California staying with friends...

prior to yesterday's call he had not talked to me in over a year...

because I would not lend him money...

I had on several other occasions, but this time I finally said no!

he was working with no bills..

and so, its back to tough love...

mental support, love, and guidance...

but, he will destroy my life if he comes to live with me

he has to show me a track record before I consider it...

have you had to do tough love?

I still wonder if I'm' doing the right thing...

but I hold steadfast to my beliefs and hope and pray that one day

he will GROW up!!

and stop blaming others for his behavior!!

Happy New Year's and a Silver Lining...

It's been awhile....

YES, a long while...

For me, 2010 was full of ups and downs....

mostly, lots of sadness...

But, ended with peace, tranquility and yes, amazingly LOVE...

Ya see, I'm a silver lining kinda girl...

Yes, the glass is always half full, not half empty kinda girl,

The girl with the Rose Colored Glasses...

2010 went like this for me....

In January (January 11th to be specific) I finally got tired of my boyfriends infidelities..

I knew it was coming

In preparation, I purchased another home in October to make the move...

it was hard to do...

but another email from his girlfriend put me over the top...

I packed my car (2 cats and a dog) and anything I could grab at the time

and moved on...

January through April were tough months...

I forged ahead not knowing where life would take me...

I worked and trudged on with the day to day things,

I appeared to be okay, but inside it hurt...

April arrived and I started to date again...

Have I told you its hard dating at 48...

OMG...its hard!!

Match.com and I were partners...

but, I simply could not find anyone that had no drama...

then June arrived...

and on a fluke..

I went to a friend's Memorial Day Party...

and my life changed!!

I do not define myself by being with a man...

but ,like most of us, I do like companionship...

and incredibly, I found the most amazing man...

funny thing is, I had to call my friend the next day to asked her to give him my phone number..

we have been together since...

and, to say the least, he is simply amazing!!

Like, the kind where if he walks into a room I get butterflies in my stomach amazing...

and my heart goes pidder patter amazing...

I've always envied your relationships..

they appear to be incredible..

in fact, I frequently thought to myself "am I the only one out there was a horrible relationship?"

and so, for me

2011

I hope...no, I know!!

will be a year of happiness and rejuvenation!!

I hope each of you had a Happy New Years!!

and will have the most incredible 2011!!

since I've still been out there junking-

I do have some sense of reality!

BUT

I've learned a little bit about myself

So here it is....

Undeniably ...I'm a hoarder (can it be?)

Yes...a hoarder!

Acknowledging is the first step to recovery (LOL)

so they say....

I've got enough junk for three homes...

Houston, I think we have a problem...no, I KNOW I have a problem!

As a pack I notice things that I bought to sell BUT there they are...sitting in all their glory!

Hopeless...that's what I am...

I just can't seem to let go...

Needless to say, when I can breath, I'll share some of my treasures with you...PROMISE!

its even in writing...so, you can remind me...REALLy

Obviously I need prompting....

Another revelation....

I've got a super family...great friends...both that support and love me!

no matter what BONEHEAD things I do...

AND beleive me....I do a lot of them!

Hence me selling my house I absolutely LOVE!

Long story...but needs to be done!

AND

Regardless of adversity...I've remained optimistic and strong!

So, let me show you what I've been up to at my new house...

Keep in mind...

I still have not moved everything from my old house

far far from it...tons of stuff still there

BUT

That is the question I've been pondering lately....

And when I thought about it

and really thought about it

my answered varied....

Case in Point...

Do I need several cars?

Do I need a big house?

Do I need lots of expensive clothes?

Do I need lots of shoes?

Okay, that's waaaay too crazy...every girl needs lot of shoes...lol..

But really...

Do we need all these things or just want them...

Do they satisfy a void or is it just temporary?

In my opinion, less is more in the above examples..

I'm satisfied with my small qauint house...

Too many cars require more maintenance...

Expensive clothes need dry cleaning...

Okay, I'm not even going to touch the shoe example...

So, why when it comes to my house

am I struggling?

I look at your blogs and I see your beautiful homes..

decorated in their glory...ahhh so gorgeous they are...

with minimal knick knacks or clutter...

and I feel a sense of serenity...

I'm drawn to it...

Each and every time I say "I want to declutter my home to gain that sense of tranquility"

and every time I try it

I lose my identity

and

that comfy cozy feeling my treasures give me!

and so I'm torn....

Let me show you what I mean....

To me...this is less...simple and elegant!

Where, this is more...comfy and cozy!

The vignettes are what give me the sense of HOME!

De-FUNKtiFING the FUNK....

Okay, so the best way to get out of a FUNK, especially if your a junker, is to approach it head on...that means AUCTION TIME BABY!

There's an auction tomorrow night....not a fabulous one...but one that, perhaps, will get me out of my FUNK and back into JUNK heaven. Here are some pics of the auction...again, not fabulous but something that may get me in gear!

This yellow wall shelf is fabulous....oh, please I need it...I'm going to tell everyone (because we are all friends) that I need it to get me out of my FUNK! Yeah, right like that will work!

Say WHAT? Can IT be TRUE?

Yes, for about a month now I've been in such a FUNK...no auctions, excursions to antique stores, JUST NOTHING....hence, no postings! BUT, I do hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Years!

To make matters worse, I've not even been to my booths for about a month and a half...I have lots of stuff sitting here that needs to go but there's no mo' in my joe'!

So I started pursing your blogs and magazines to see if would give me some umph...and lo and behold I think these pics helped me.

Do you ever get that way? Perhaps I have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) because it gets dark so early and its ever so chilly...

Oh, the weather outside is frightful.....

We are still digging out

from 2 feet of snow that fell from Friday night

until late yesterday afternoon!

It's sooo beginning to look like Christmas!!

But, I still need to do Christmas shopping...so, I've gotta start digging out

so my sleigh (that would be my blue truck above...its really my antiquing sleigh) can get to the mall!

New House....New Decor!

I've noticed that my decorating style has been evolving for the past couple of years. Instead of darker colors I've moved to a more neutral palette giving the laid back relaxed feel that I love.l. My current home has a different vibe in every room..some with darker colors others that have the cottagey feel. This change to a more neutral tone was subtle... but looking at the items I've purchased for my home over the last couple of years it definitely showed that it either had to have chippy paint or rust. With that mind, I've been trying to determine paint colors and furniture for my new house. So, I've been searching ya'lls blogs and several different magazines to get a sense of what I want my new house to look like...now keep in mind, this house is new...and, I've not lived in a new house for years so I've got to give it the look of an old house...that means obtaining some great architectural pieces to set the tone! Here are some pictures that I love and am using for my theme.

Next, I'll show you some paint colors I'm thinking about using in my living room...the painter is coming on Monday so I better get cracking and make the final decision...BUT, its soooo HARD! Anybody have a good paint color to share with me?

A couple of nights ago I was perusing some of my favorite blogs and stumbled across the most incredible designer...Brooke, from Giannetti Home. Am I the only person in blogland that didn't know about her amazing blog, Velvet and Linen? Not only is it informative but it has the most scrumptious pics of her designs and her home....OMG, her home is stunningly gorgeous...it has the most fabulous layout with that beachy cottagey feel I love! I hoping to use her home as inspiration for decorating my new home....I have collected many of the elements she has incorporated into her home such as columns, hooked rugs, tole chandeliers, corbels (perhaps not as big as hers) etc...however, I will add my own touch as well! It's Beginning to Look ALOT Like Christmas!

It's a winter Wonderland here in Virginia...initially they were forecasting 1 to 3 inches but as of today they've changed it to get 5 to 8 inches....YIPPEE, I love SNOW. It really gets you in the Christmas spirit...perhaps I'll put up the Christmas tree today! Here are some pics...not really good but its brrrr chilly outside!
I went to an auction last night and here is a sneak peek of what they had to offer...I'll update you on the outcome of the auction later on this weekend....I'm off to go get the Christmas tree out of the barn...hope your having a great weekend!

Who or what gives you decorating inspiration? I know, I know....magazines, books, blogs, and websites are ever so helpful in giving us ideas or as I say, gives me my fix! Yes, like you, I'm addicted to decorating magazines (it's taboo to throw any magazine away in my house...I have Country Living magazines that date back to 1995...yes, I know I have a problem...lol) however they just seem to temporarily fill my thirst for decorating. Nothing, my friends, compares to the inspiration that comes from one of my BFFs. Beth, my BFF and business partner, is the quintessential queen of decorating!! Her home is simply gorgeous....and what amazes me the most is no room remains the same....not little changes either, typically rooms have different furniture and decor! Take a look her home...I guarantee it will not look like this next week...I can hardly wait to visit!

I've been a little busy this week so I haven't had a moment to post about last weeks auction. As I thought there were tons of people and prices went sky high. To give you an example, the mantel went for $1150.00 which I thought would go for somewhere around $400.00 to $600.00 and the hooked rug went for over $300.00. I probably could of bought the chippy green trunk but my friend wanted it so badly...so I let her have it....she paid $70.00 dollars which I thought was quite reasonable. So what did I get...a boat load of feed sacks with cool advertisements, 2 German purses, a little chippy bench, a beat up farm table (its already in my booth), and some other nick knacks...nothing fantastic! I'll add some items to the store later on this weekend. Now, for the exciting news...at least for me...there's another auction tonight! Yep, I went and took some pics to share with ya'll...but let me tell you, its not as good as the one last week. There's really not a lot of furniture however they had some good small items...take a peek and let me know what you think...

I thought he was a hoot....and he is enormous...there's a huge fish as well...lol!Tea Pot from England...had an assortment of dishes and tea cups with it...not a whole set.

I'm going to a terrific auction tonight and thought I would share some pics...most of the items are more on the primitive side...but, lots of chippy furniture. I think there will be a large crowd so I'm not too optimistic that I will score big. I really did not have time to look because there was so much stuff so I'm sure I'll be able to find some treasures for all my shabby romantic fans...I let you know later on this weekend. Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? Most of my friends are either done or only have a couple more items to pick up.......I'm sooo envious.....for once I wish I could get it done before Thanksgiving so I could perhaps enjoy the holidays....its always been a bit stressful for me. BUT this year ( I know I'm jinxing myself) I've decided to get a jump start on it....now, don't get all excited, I just started last weekend....but still a monumental moment for me. Ya see, my problem, and not a bad one mind you, is that most of my family and friends don't need or want anything...a good thing really but bad when it comes to buying gifts. AND I really do not like giving money or gift cards because its so not personal....I love it when I find the perfect gift; its thrilling to watch them open their gifts and see the huge smile! So needless to say, it makes the holidays such a challenge. And get this...a good many of my friends and family are not into JUNK....I know, I know, hard to believe...are they CRAZY! Here are a couple things...and I mean a couple...that I've picked up along the way....

TJ Maxx has fabulous stuff...this Prep Bowl Set (3 Bowls) is awesome @ $7.99.
They also have the most amazing cards. These pics really do not do them justice. A box of 20 for $3.99...in years past I've spent a fortune buying a box of cards. These are 3D...Santa's hat, outfit and mittens are lifted from the card...so cute.

Another TJ Maxx find....oh, these hats are 2DIE4...might have to go back and get me one or two! And only $12.99!This vintage rusty bank is the perfect find for one of my dearest friends...the more rust and dings the more she loves the item.

I have a couple of friends that LOVE roosters....so, these little oven mitts were adorable...not only do you get the oven mitt, but brownie mix and recipe cards...and $5.00 at Big Lots. Do you have a Big Lots...if not, you are soooo missing out!

Hmmm, this exit sign might have to be a keeper....if not, its going to my twin brother...he loves advertisment pieces and signs just like me...go figure.

Another great little piece...perhaps one advertisement piece for my bro and one for me...hee, hee, hee...or should I say, Ho, Ho , Ho! Imagine this little baby in a bathroom full of soaps or makeup...yep, its convincing me to keep it...just say NO, just say NO...I'm trying girlfriends.

I don't know who I bought this little cutie patutie for but it had to come home with me...envision it on a chippy greenish blue kitchen hutch amongst ironstone pitchers and plates...hmmm, sorta like the one I have....That's it for now...any advice or ideas for perfect gifts would be sooo appreciated.

Booth MADNESS!

My weekends have been so busy lately that I've somewhat neglected both my booths. It certainly doesn't help that one is over an hour away and the weather has not cooperated with me lugging furniture in my truck. However, Saturday was somewhat decent so I loaded up and headed to my booth to bring some new items and rearrange. Re-arranging your booth is essential to sales...customers see things they never saw before...its amazing. So, after three long hours I got it looking somewhat organized. Little black dresser with crystal pulls is so versatile...use it in a bedroom or family room.

This armoire would look fabulous in a little girls room...hand painted and all!

Love this white chippy piece...great for a kitchen or dining room...looks at the pulls....YUMMY!

Flea Market Style: Weekend Treasures

I had a trillion things to do this weekend however the weather did not cooperate...so off treasure hunting I went...and BOY, OH BOY...did I hit PAY DIRT...check out my finds. Some are for you and some are for me....yes, I believe in sharing...LOL. I actually got more stuff but I only had a couple of minutes to take some pics...other items included chenille comforters, dishes, two cool little dolls beds just ideal for your little pooch, huge armoire painted a minty green and a dresser with old stenciled roses...nice and chippy the way we like it...so let me give the low down....

Here is just a snap shot of a really great rocker, fantastic green chippy wedding basket (45.00 dollars), huge ornate picture frame with awesome white paint (35.00 dollars) and other treasures

Look at that super cute milk can with strawberries...can see the rocker better in this pic...has green peeking through the paint as well. Love the statue as well....

I got two vintage quilts (they will probably be priced at 30.00 each) and this decanter set, with a leather case, has 4 bottles and little silver shot glasses for each flask...I thought it would make a great Christmas gift.

Neat old quilt rack (35.00 dollars)...chippy white paint...I think these are great in the bathroom to hang your bath towel...how cute is that idea! Functionality and shabby decor all in one...that little black, and I mean little, luggage rack (21.00 dollars) would be perfect in your bathroom to sit your white towels!

This mirror is HUGE...I'm thinking this might be a keeper! It may replace my bathroom vanity mirror...the one in my new house! Nothing like builder grade mirrors...boring and generic...however, I've seen them where you can add vintagey moulding around the edges and VIOLA instant eye candy!

Lastly is the cute little mantel...I mean little...perhaps three feet wide by 4 feet tall
BUT LOOK at the COLOR and the chippy paint...OH, I just had to have it...wasn't cheap either but sometimes a little splurge is worth it!

It's going in my new house..see the pic below and just imagine...that's the previous owners mirror and table...now envision looking at this little cutie instead...it fits just PERFECT! Love it! Okay, I know, I know, the paint colors gotta go...all in good time my blogger friends.

In January 2009 I was deeply sadden to learn Rachel Ashwell filed Chapter 11 and closed her Shabby Chic stores....to me it was a true indication that no one was immuned from the recession. But my blogger friends....the Queen of Shab is back! On October 20th she opened the Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture store at 117 Mercer Street New York and still has the location in Santa Monica. And look at her new lines of furniture...spectacular!

I just wish I lived close enough to visit her gorgeous stores! Until I can make the trip to NY, I'll get my fix by buying her new book.

Show & Tell...Some of my Favorite Things!

I'm in the process of purchasing a new home and occasionally walk around to see what will make the move or not....here are a couple of items I think are keepers. This transition from one home to the next will take some time since I will in all likelihood sell my current home (this is the house you see flashing when you visit our store...yes, its an 1885 Victorian Farm house, with a guest cottage, pool, potting shed, outbuildings all surrounded by 6 acres of gorgeous land) So, I'll maintain two homes for right now...YIKES am I crazy? But this need for a second home is being necessitated for several reasons which are somewhat personal and complicated...I will go into that another time. This has been a very difficult decision but one that I think will in the long run make my life more content. So, here are some items that I think will make the move:

I adore chippy paint so these will make the cut....

I also love pictures...I don't think I have a wall where you can actually see the paint...lol. Look at these pretties! The first two are hand painted water colors.I also cannot get enough of signs or advertisement pieces...the tea room sign is HUGE, probably 4 feet long. This pic really does not do it justice. The smokers sign I bought last weekend..I'm not a smoker but I just love the look of it...it used to be in an old movie theater. Anything with rust is typically a keeper as well. Look at this galvanized tote...I had the little grey flower pots and they just goes perfect with the tote don't you think?
I recently bought a slipcovered couch and half a chair with the most amazing light linen taupe color. Here is the chair that goes with it....do see the taupe in the fabric? The slipcovered couch is the solid taupe you see in the fabric color...both the couch and chair are in storage until my move.

Here are some lamps I've collected along the way...I also have some alabaster ones that will look incredible with my new sofa and chair. Other items...look at this vintage bookend with the Victorian woman at both ends! I bought it to sell but it still resides in my bedroom!

Can a girl have too many mannequins...my friend Kelli named her Maryann Margaret. Look at the vintage swimming cap...just FAB!

Love chalkware..these two plaques are so unique! I've never seen a set like these...I gotta tell you I have quite the collection of chalkware. Some will stay and some will go...

To Sell or Keep?

Always the 10,000 dollar question.....I just brought home some treasures and I'm soooo struggling whether to keep or sell them....oh, I love them so much! I know many antique dealers that buy items because they know they can make a profit. Not because they love the items but solely for the purpose of making a profit. Okay, now don't get me wrong...I do make a little something on my items and really the money I make just goes to purchase items for my house. And I just absolutely love the thrill of the hunt. Its really a never ending cycle...buy something today and it will be replaced by something better tomorrow. So, the bottom line really and truly is that I only buy items that I LOVE....so, I thought over the course of a couple of days I would share with you some of these treasures....I'm still unloading so have a little patience..and keep in mind, I don't have them all nicely displayed because I literally just took them off the truck. Let me know what you think...these are items that I'm tittering on the fence with...to keep or to sell, to keep or to sell!! Let me know if you interested in any items...perhaps you can make the decision easy for me...lol!

Oh my...look at this adorable patio set...it would look just fantastic in a breakfast nook! AND the color is just wonderful. Has four ice cream chairs and a glass top...look at the swirly top!

This corner TV armorie is not old but it sure looks it...love the color and fading paint color and its just the right size to put in a bedroom or family room!

Doors swing open like shutters and then when your not watching TV they can close and VIOLA a beautiful piece just by itself...and you don't have to see the horrible electronics!

Now, this hunt board is the piece I'm really struggling with...again, its not old but it has such a great look...hand painted terracotta pots with geraniums adorn the front and side...top is green and distressed. So very pretty and functional!

OMG~ I have a Dresser Fetish!

I didn't realize until I came home last night with a new (well, really old, but new for me) dresser that I have a fetish for hand painted dressers from the 1800s. Take a look at some of the ones I've purchased lately for my house. Dressers are just fantastic for decorating...especially in bathrooms, bedrooms. porches and sunrooms. Even though I have absolutely no room in my house for any more furniture I just can't stop buying them. But come on, this has never stopped me in the past so why start now...LOL...you can always find the perfect spot! Take a peek at some of my favs!

This little pink one sits in my doorway and is typically where I take photos of merchandise for the ShabbyVilla. Just love the pink roses and the door handles...YUMMY!

This black dresser, which resides in my bedroom, is very much like the pink one above but has a different painting style.

And lastly, I purchased this green dresser yesterday...aren't the pink roses 2DIE4...and the color just screams COTTAGE CHIC!

Yes~ it was LOVE at first sight! I was cruising an antique store and walked around the corner...and there she was...in all her glory...my heart went pitter patter...and right then, I just knew, she was coming home with me! Did I have room for her....NOPE...did I care...NOPE...instant love girls, instant love! Look at the beautiful BARKCLOTH with the amazing ROSES...yep, it didn't matter the cost..she had found someone that would treat her well and admire her for all her beauty. She now sits in my bedroom for those nights that I want to curl up and read a great book.....so comfy and cozy....the perfect ending!

OMG~ am I crazy or has this happened to you? Please tell me I'm not the only person in the world that has fallen for something and just had to have it!

I'm Shopping Till I Drop!

In my never ending quest to find the perfect treasures for my customers, I spend almost every weekend scouring flea markets and antique malls in addition to driving countless miles to auctions and estate sales. Along the way, I always manage to find a trinket or two that I just can't live without...needless to say, they now adorn my house! Okay, everyone...I'm trying to do my part to keep the economy going...lol!

But really, I'm preparing for an upcoming show the first weekend of May, so my treasure hunting has really intensified! This is a big show so I need lots of treasures...it's always nice to have an array of items to display. Anyhow, along my travels I've picked up a couple of things that I absolutely love love love...take a peek!

This little chicken planter was instant eye candy....I love the muted jadeite color...and look at the little bit of chippy red! Soooooo, CUTE! She currently resides on my kitchen window ledge.

Very Victorian looking stained glass window...lots of chippy white paint. I'm going to hang it on my bedroom wall.

My new fetish....chalkware! Isn't she just fabulous...also in my bedroom on the fireplace mantle.

Wow, could you depart with this three tiered rod iron stand...has marble finials. Currently in my bathroom....would look great with white towels!

And just for a little fun...this kidney shaped "EAT" sign which is hanging in my kitchen window. Again, love the jadeite color and all the chippy paint. LOVE IT!

A little Show & Tell

I just love this pink medicine cabinet! I bought it to sell but just can't seem to part with it...for all your sellers out there, have you ever bought something to sell, brought it home and then can't part with it...well, I've got lots of those goodies sitting around my house! What I love about this medicine cabinet is all the chippy pink paint...and it's a real light pink with white paint peeking out from under the pink paint. I think the vintage hat on top just sets it off perfectly but I sold it and now I regret it...I think I'm going to start collecting old hats.

So what are you collecting? My fetish, at this momemt, is old hats with lots of millinery roses and chalkware..and of course, my old fav...oil paintings of roses...especially the ones with the black oil background...just makes the roses so real looking!

We're having Growing Pains!

So you ask....where have I been lately? Well, I've been busy expanding my booth...it's now double it's original size and therefore I've been frequenting lots of estate sales. It's the one thing I can actually get up early for on the weekend...sorta sad but true...lol...I'm planning on having a March Madness sale followed by an Easter egg hunt in April. I'm going to put little plastic Easter eggs filled with little goodies all around my booth...some will have candy while others will have discount coupons up to 20%.

Shattered Dreams!

I'm a HUGE football fan...and the Redskins...or more like what most of us say around here "the Deadskins" are my favorite team! It should of been a clue when I accidentally dropped my Redskin shot glass on the granite kitchen counter and it shattered to pieces because last weekend my dreams of the Redskins going to the Superbowl, or at least to the play offs, came to a crashing halt when they lost to the Giants. Needless to say, watching football is not on my list of priorities like it typically is on Sunday coz my Skinny Skins are out for the season.....so here I sit blogging!

Yesterday I spent about 4 hours at my booth rearranging and adding new items. At the auction I got an old bike which I'm hoping to put on the wall as decoration...pretty cool, huh? Should be going over there today but feel so darn unmotivated. I'll get it done sometime this week and get some pics posted soon.

Tomorrow I start my exercise regiment because I sooooo need to lose the extra weight I gained from the holidays. I still want to get Wii Fit but I haven't found it yet. Just finished reading "Twilight" and started the second book. I thought it was a really nice light read and highly recommend it...has anyone else read it? I thought about going to see the movie but I'm always so disappointed when I read a book and then go see it at the movies. But, I heard the movie was pretty good. So, what are you reading...anything you would recommend?

"Sneak Peek" of my Booth

Just giving you a "sneak peek" of my booth at the Stuarts Draft Antique Mall. It's located in Stuarts Draft, Virginia. Interstate 64 Exit 94 four miles south of Route 340. If you live close by come on by to see some awesome treasures. This is a before picture because I just rented additional space on Tuesday so I'll be adding more items this weekend. " Meet Cali....My Rogue Cat"

Does she not look like the most precious little cat....WHAT A CUTIE...HUH?

Nope! She's "CAT GONE WILD"! Pooping wild that is....yep...you read that right...she's a lean mean pooping machine....and not in the least shy about where she does it either!

Around seven years ago my neighbor found her and brought her to my doorstep...I'm such a sucker and she knew all she had to do was bring her to my door step and viola she would be adopted. Hard to resist what a cutie she was and just a tinsy little thing, probably weighed about 2 pounds and could be held just in the palm of one of my hands.

The next day I took her to our vet to get shots and fixed...and was shocked when he said she was not a kitten but rather she was about two. Someone must of just dumped her off the side of the road...she had been fixed but was in real poor shape. For the past seven years Cali and I have been buds....where ever I traveled she went with me...she has moved twice with me and always maintains her wonderful demeanor....that is....until about a year ago! For the past year Cali has had pooping issues...bottom line, she hates the kitty litter box. Her favorite dumping grounds are beds..any beds will suffice but like all of us we have our favorites and hers tends to be our bed or the one in the little cottage. For example, yesterday she decided to poop right in the middle of our bed after I had just stripped the sheets for the wash. And, to top it off...right after I yelled and chased her around the house she went ahead and peed right beside where she pooped...this must of occured when I went downstairs to get some stuff to clean the poop up with. FRUSTRATING!

So...I guess my question is this...what the heck do you do with her...she's evidently is pissed ( a little pun on words there...lol) about something but really nothing has changed.

She's done other things such as:

Pooped in Kirk's shoes (twice...oh my was he angry when he put his shoe on)

Sometimes she will poop in the kitty litter box BUT she poops the other way around so her poop lands on the floor and not the kitty litter

Pooped on our dry cleaning bag

Pooped on our nice brand new white bath mats...that's really great when you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night to step on

Padded with her claws on Kirk's nice leather chair (OMG- It cost 2500) and now has little marks on the arm

Lotta pooping going on at the ShabbyVilla girlfriends...so, are there other cats out there that have these issues...if so, what can be done? Please HELPPPPPPPP!

So Much to Tell...So Little Time!

First and foremost...I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

I took a break from blogging because I really did not like the direction it was heading in...I just seemed to ramble on and on about the ShabbyVilla. And really, my life is more than the ShabbyVilla! The ShabbyVilla is just a small portion of my life...I actually have a full time job, two antique booths, wonderful friends & family and so on. So, from now on...yes, lucky you...lol...I'm going to just ramble on about anything..no really, just things that happen to me day in and day out! Which brings to mind my aching body....Santa must of thought I was a really good girl this year because I got some really awesome toys...yes, I mean toys! Ya know...some girls want diamonds for Christmas (which by the way is my birthstone)...but not this one....

Here is what was on the top of my wish list!!

And I took that picture with my new camera! Which wasn't on my wish list but I absolutely love it! I'm still trying to figure out all the gadgets and what not! But, I digress...back to the Wii. Love it...love it...and did I say, love it! We played it all Christmas day and night and boy does my body feel it...I'm so sore from Bowling...Gawd, am I out of shape! I guess it will be back to the gym come January...which is only in a couple of days. I've got to lose some of that weight I put on during the holidays...my jeans are getting sorta tight. But again, I digress...back to the Wii! Does anyone have the Wii fitness? If so, do you like it and can you tell me more about it. I think I would prefer to use it instead of going to the gym. Which I pay 50 bucks a month for and don't even go! Perhaps, that should be my New years resolution although I tend to stay away from them since I typically do not follow through with them...and then I feel bad.

So, does anyone have plans for New Years? Like you probably haven't already figured it out what I'm doing for New Years...yep, I'll be playing with my new Wii ` exciting life I live, huh?

Introducing a New Line at the ShabbyVilla

Last weekend I went to our awesome biannual Antique Fair and ran across the most talented wonderful artist. Sandra, from Salvage Art, has made old post cards into wonderful fun pictures. She also has really neat and funky jewelry, lamps, and other nifty unique treasures. I was so thrilled with her merchandise that I asked if we could stock them here at the ShabbyVilla. Below is a sampling...I haven't posted them to the store but will do so this weekend. If you see any item you like, please let me know. Also, I would like to hear from you as far as what you think of the items. About three weeks ago I went to Lowes for something or another and there he was... that hunk of burning love- six feet tall, gorgeous roaming neon green eyes that lite up everytime I stopped to just stare at him...and the moaning - gotta tell you - just made my heart pidder padder. What a keeper...he just had to come home with me!! So, here he is...the new watcher of my house. Funny thing is...I don't even get tricker treaters...LOL!! So, what do you all think of Frank...isn't he just so darn cute? Also, what do you think of my new Halloween background...does anyone know how to get the right hand side to move in closer? Hope everyone is having a wonderful fall...I just love this time of year...don't you?

Many of us shop at the Goodwill in hopes of finding some treasures but the next time you go, please take a look around your home to see if there is something you can donate...perhaps a pair of jeans, shoes, or shirts that you haven't worn in years ...I promise you, your donation will make a difference to another person. Please read the following story.

Sometimes It's About More Than Just the Clothes

When you work for a nonprofit, there are certain unwavering principles that guide your work. One of these is the organization’s mission. And sometimes you realize that mission in small, quiet moments as you go about your day-to-day business. And sometimes you get thwacked over the head with a not-so-subtle reminder as to why you do what you do.The latter occurred to me earlier this week and I’m still grappling with the experience.I – your fabulous DCGF – was doing what I do best: shopping at a Goodwill store.

A customer motioned to me and said, “Do you work here?” I replied in the affirmative, expecting a question about pricing or store hours or something of that nature. Instead the customer immediately asked me to help her find jeans in her size…and promptly explained to me the style, wash, and fit for which she was looking. It was a slightly unusual, but not altogether unreasonable request. So I immediately dug in and started pulling out pairs she might like. We looked through the rack for a few minutes and began to narrow down her preferences.“What about these? These?” I questioned.“Ooh, those are nice. I like a little stretch in them, you know?” she replied.“Sure, let’s see what we can find,” I continued.

And then she explained, in the same tone of voice and demeanor as she’d been using the whole time, “I’m homeless, you know. And I have a $40 voucher. I need some jeans and a couple of sweatshirts, ‘cause it’s cool out today. And a rain coat. I don’t have one.

Oh.

I took a split second to process that and said, “You know, we have some really nice coats back by the wall. Do you want to look at those?” And she did. And so we continued throughout the entire women’s section. Blouses (a printed button-down coordinated with all three pairs of jeans she liked), rain coats (we found a great purple and black one – she likes dark colors), shoes (she’s a size 7 ½, but 8 will fit, too), pajamas (a plaid flannel pair were perfect for when she stayed overnight at the women's shelter, she told me), sweaters (they were on sale for .99 and she likes fleece ones with hoods), and tees (she needed a couple to wear to her doctor’s appointment later that day): all were readily available at the store and fit within her budget.As we headed toward the dressing room, I was struck by how unbelievably similar her wants and needs as a customer were to any other customer at any other clothing retailer.

I’ve worked at high-end boutiques and department stores both full-time and part-time since I was 18 years old, and female shoppers share certain nearly universal characteristics. This homeless woman knew her size, her best colors, her favorite name brands (Old Navy and Reebok), and her budget. I’ve been a personal shopper for women with virtually unlimited monetary resources who know those exact same things when they shop. In so many ways, for that short period of time, I was simply another sales associate helping another customer, and it didn't matter for a second the circumstances under which we were shopping together.Women everywhere want quality, they want value, and they want to look good when they leave they retailer with whom they’ve just spent their money and their time. This homeless woman at Goodwill was picky – and she should be! Why is her voucher any less worthy than my Visa card? She deserves to feel good about herself when she leaves the store, and I spent nearly 45 minutes from her ensuring that her shoes, jeans, tops, and even a satchel that she was able to get all coordinated and fit her well. And she and another woman from the shelter with whom she had traveled by bus to the store were trying on clothes, I critiqued their outfits and even rushed back to the racks to pick out a different garment that might fit better. At one point, I told her that she could go on in the dressing room and she said, “Don’t go anywhere. I want you to tell me if these jeans look good on me, okay?” And I did. And they looked good on her.

We were having fun and picking out great items and I was feeling pretty darn good about the whole experience until it was time for her to leave. She popped the tags off the clothes she was wearing and handed them to me: “I want to wear these out, okay?” Okay, I said. No problem. “And I want to throw away these clothes I came in with, okay? I’ve been wearing them for the last month.”

Oh.

I was without words for a second. “Of course, let me get a bag for you,” I said with a smile. But my words betrayed by feelings. I get a lump in my throat as I recall how she gently folded up her old clothes, placed them in the plastic bag I held out for her, looked me in the eyes, and said, “Thank you.” Thank you…for throwing my clothes away. I told her a cursory, “You’re welcome,” but she’s the one I should be thanking.How can I not be struck by the weight of what Goodwill does when it provides clothing vouchers to homeless people who just want what everybody else does when it comes to clean clothes that fit well and look good? How can I not be overwhelmed by the generosity of the thousands of people who donate their gently used goods every year so that others might have quality items at affordable prices? How can I not be humbled by a homeless woman and her shopping companion who want me to hang around outside their dressing room so that I can critique their fashion choices?

If we’re lucky, we find a job we like and we’re able to do that job and make some money and live a nice life and generally just coast on through. If we’re really lucky, we get to love our job and take 45 minutes out of our day to be reminded why our work is so special and challenging and frustrating and redeeming all at the same time. And we get to help somebody else live a nicer life along the way.

Disappearing Act?

So, here I was a good little blogger for awhile and then all of a sudden I disappear. Not to fear, I'm back. I had to go to San Fransisco for work for a week and then jaunted off to our lake house for some well deserved R&R. Now, it's back to reality. It's always so wonderful to go away, but I always dread coming back. My "to do" list is HUGE! I took some really great pics of the "painted ladies" in San Fransisco. If your not familiar with the "painted ladies" they are a row of stunningly beautiful Victorian homes. Just for a lark I took a peek at some homes for sale in San Fran and about died...let me tell you... a million bucks doesn't go far! Regardless, I still love it over here in Virginia. This will be a quickie post since I'll hopefully be posting tomorrow. I just want to say "Hello to everyone out there in blogger land.

Five Year Anniversary

Five years ago today I lost my husband, of 20 years, to cancer. Mike, was 48 years old and died within three months of being diagnosed with melanoma (skin cancer). It devastated my son, Kyle who was 16 at the time, and myself (I was 40) and we thought our lives would never be the same again. This post is not intended to be sad, but to let you know two things: 1) If you have the slightest mole...GO TO THE DOCTOR...and have it removed. Melonoma is very treatable if detected early and, 2) For those of you that have lost a loved one and the agony of getting up out of bed every morning just seems unbearable...just know, there will be happiness again...each day you'll become stronger and one day you'll realize they would want you to be happy!! Yes, they will remain in your thoughts, BUT your life will get better no matter how bad things are today....that I can promise!

Antiquing, auctions and my wonderful friends & family were my salvation. This, in part, is the reason the Shabbyvilla exists today. Antiquing filled my void and kept my mind off the bad times and soon the days got more tolerable. Every day a little bit more light crept back into my life until one day I felt happiness. For the rest of my life I will think of Mike and know that he is at peace and that no matter what he would want me to be happy!

A New Found Blogger/Ebay Friend

Yesterday, as I was viewing some of my favorite sellers on Ebay, I noticed one of my ultimate favorite sellers Erin, from simply*shabby had a blog http://www.mycottageintherockies.blogspot.com/ . Needless to say, I was absolutely thrilled and zipped on over to see what was happening and to perhaps see some pics of her home. I just knew it had to be gorgeous given the pictures she had taken for Ebay. Ya see, I don't just look at simply*shabby's Ebay items, I look at the entire photo including all the lovely knick knacks and beautiful furniture.... it truly is like looking at a magazine. Well, what I found is that Erin just started her blog. Given the ShabbyVilla is relatively new to the blogging world, I thought I would send her an email (no, I'm not a stalker...LOL) to welcome her to the world of blogging and to offer any assistance. As emails were flying back and forth, I actually got up the gumption to ask her if I could highlight her store and home on our blog. Erin was so kind and sent me some pics to share with ya'll. So, today, I'm showing you pics of her Ebay listings BUT she also sent me tons of pics of her home....I'll be posting them in a couple of days...you will think you've died and gone to heaven. "FABBY" Eye Candy

Every once in awhile I go to D.C. to visit my client. Typically, on my long jaunt home, I make an effort to stop by some of my favorite antique stores. There are several stores that I don't get to visit often since I live so far away from DC. So, last week, like any other trek back from D.C., I popped into one of my favorite stores called the "Three French Hens" which is located in Woodstock, Virginia. As soon as I pulled up I got all giddy...there on the porch were all sorts of goodies just sitting and begging me to take them home! I just knew I had made the right decision to get off the Woodstock exit to do some "tiquing". Forget the laundry piled up at home or the dinner beckoning to be made....yep, I just knew I had made the right decision! Do they have such a thing as "antique anonymous"? If so, enroll me now...

As I wandered through the store drooling over all the wonderful treasures, I was fortunate enough to meet Sally, the owner. We got to chatting and I asked if I could take some pics to share with my blogger friends. I gotta tell you...if your in Northern Virginia....check it out -just FABBY! YIKES...It's Friday the 13th!

So, is anyone out there just a little leary of Friday the 13th? I'm not a superstitious type of person however I'm a little more precautious on this day than I typically am....but, today is my boyfriends birthday (the big 45) so it's going to be a good day (hopefully...see there's that ever looming fear that something might happen)! Anyhoo ~ thought I would share some facts about Friday the 13th that I thought were interesting.

In French Lick Springs (where in the heck is that), Indiana, a law was once passed requiring all black cats to wear bells.

Greek philosophers called '13' an imperfect number.

Friday was the common day for people to be hanged and hangmen were paid thirteen pence halfpenny in the past.

Some Texans say never to cut any kind of garment on a Friday because it will not be completed (must be all days in my house...got lots of those good intentions gone bad...lol)

Many hotels have no room number 13.

Many buildings do not have a 13th floor.

Many airplanes do have a 13th row.

Many ships will not start a voyage on the 13th, particularly, Friday the 13th.

Needless to say, I think there are a lot of us folks out that are a little wary onr Friday the 13th and just in general for the number 13.

I'm Late, I'm Late, for the FFM Date!!

Sorry, yesterday just got away from me...I'm super busy with my full time job and have some drop dead dates I have to meet in addition to just the everyday stuff. My day looked like this yesterday: Worked 9 hours, went to go workout at the gym (and ooooh I'm sooo sore), went to the grocery store, came home and mowed the grass (which is about 6 acres -needless to say I did not get it all done -after 2 hours I stopped), made dinner, took pictures for the FFM sale, and then it was 11 PM. Fun Filled Weekend of Auctions & Antiquing

Hi Blogger Friends ~ Talk about a fabulous weekend ~ a girls dream weekend ~ a weekend full of nothing but antiquing, auctioning, and hanging out with friends & family. I picked up some AMAZING stuff this weekend. Below is a couple of pictures of my awesome finds. I'm ever sooo tempted to keep some of them~LOL~ I hope to have time this week to get them added to the ShabbyVilla. Keep in mind, I've got more than just these goodies ~ take a peek.

This bust is HUGE and simply Divine...I'm not sure why this is not a keeper but my loss is your gain. Ya' see, I do share :) The bust is sitting on a cement column which will also be for sale ~ actually, I've got two....they are really neat!Love this old iron gate ~ nice and chippy and rusty ~ perfect for your shabby abode! These iron fence pieces make fabulous pot racks!Lots of china, cement wall hangings, cherubs and paintings. Remember, this is just a glimpse...I've got more than just this coming your way.Some cute things for your garden or porch The two chippy ice cream chairs will be covered in a barkcloth fabric ~ perhaps pink with roses. Look at the two fern holders, huge corbels and stunning wood wall plaque.

I got the needlepoint chair shown below in the prior post ~ it's all nice and clean and ready to go to it's new owner. Although, it might soon find a spot in my office ~LOL~

OMG~ this hand stitched barkcloth comforter/quilt is sooo yummy!

Sneak Peek....

Ya' see, I'm getting more timely with my posts! Like most of us I've been really busy with well...just every day things like work (yes, I have a full time job), yard work ~ I've got lots of flowers to plant ~ making dinner, laundry, and lastly getting things ready for the Friday Flea Market. Which by the way, this week I'll have a totally new line up of products for you ~ not the same ones from last week. I thought each week I would add the items that did not sell from the prior week to their appropriate categories. Therefore, each week you'll see new goodies!! Needless to say, the "to do list" is getting big so I'm thinking that it's going to be a late one tonight getting everything posted ~ but hopefully you'll like the new treasures. Speaking of treasures, I'm going to an auction this weekend and thought I would give you a sneak peek of some items I thought were "fabby" and that I am considering bidding on! Hopefully, I'll win some and be able to share my delightful treasures with you...now, you know some are going to be keepers :)! If you see anything you like, please let me know and I'll let you know if I get it.

Okay, this needlepoint chair is really awesome ~ much better than this picture ~ it has some dust on it but it will just wipe off ~ not a problem! I absolutely love needlepoint chairs and ottomans and this is a combo ~ what more could a girl ask for? Perhaps, let me be the winning bidder ~ LOL!!

Okay, another 'fav' of mine is wicker. I think every cottagey shabby style home should have some wicker. There were several pieces that I plan on bidding on including planters and side tables.

Is this not the cutest hooked rug ~ look at the cute rabbits! It is really good condition and they had another that is really beachy which I will try to get as well!

Okay, need I say more about my love for needlepoint. Again, this piece is really dusty but it will wipe right off ~ I'm thinking it will probably go for a pretty penny but I will still try!

These two walls hangings are from Italy and really really nice! There will be lots of bids on them but keep your fingers crossed.Where I live primitive furniture is really in so this piece will also be pricey...but, we shall see ~ it's so darn cuteThis pair of musical cupids that are made in Italy and are really awesome. Hand painted signed picture of bluebirds ~ really adorable!Okay , so I need a pedicure ~ again I've been busy...LOL ~ this wooden shelf is really wonderful

It's the Fabulous Friday Flea Market

Well, after some deliberation I decided to go forward with joining in all the fun at the Friday Flea Market. Polly, from http://www.countingyourblessings.com/, hooked me right up; it's real easy to join. So, late last night I posted eight fabulous treasures to the ShabbyVilla. I know I mentioned in the last post about my ordeal I've been having with my pool. So, I thought I would share some pictures of what it looks like right now and let me tell you....it's a muddy mess! This endeavor started last year, around June, and the guy started working on it and left it like just like this...wouldn't it be nice to be swimming in a pool on Memorial Day weekend

We've contracted with a new pool company and they started on Wednesday (mind you, they came on Wednesday and have not been back)! Since we've had so much rain the pool had about two feet of muddy water so on Wednesday the new pool company spent most of their time pumping the water out and bracing the pool. What a mosquito haven!!

As I mentioned, the guy started last year and left it just like this with mounds of dirt. Of course, weeds grew all over the place. Needless to say, when my dog goes out he will traipse lots of mud and gunt back in with him.

Don't these stairs look real stable...boy, I hope they fix them so they don't slope!

See the little house with the french doors, that is a little cottage that has a wonderful bedroom and bathroom. Just imagine opening the doors and sitting by the pool...I think I'm going to have lots of friends when this is all done...lol!

Well, that's it for now. I will keep you posted as the pool progresses...yes, I think this time it will get done (they told me by June 13th,,,YIPPEE) Hope everyone has a nice Memorial Day weekend. Think of our troops~ I know I will since my son is in the Air Force.

Where Have We Been?

There's nothing like starting a project, like a blog, and not keeping up with it...sorry, I've just been busier than a bee! First of all, I went on well deserved vacation to Puerto Rico for ten glorious days. My boyfriend is a CPA and he is typically totally spent after a long tax season...so off we went to Puerto Rico for some well needed R&R. We had a wonderful time and were sad to come home (it was freezing when we got off the plane ~ what's with the temperature lately). If you've never been to Puerto Rico I would highly recommend it...beautiful beaches, superb food, friendly folks, and awesome weather...just what this tired girl needed! Of course, when your gone for awhile things sort of pile up so I've been trying to get caught up. I've been working on getting things added to the ShabbyVilla and have gone to a few shows. I went to a wonderful show (sorry, forgot my camera) over the weekend and got some really neat things. Some of them were for me (YIPPEE) and some were for the store...take a peek!

Okay, so this cute little folding chair is a keeper! I don't know exactly where I'll put it but I'm sure I'll find a spot. The back of the chair is tiled with sweet roses and look at the chippy paint...oh, I love it sooo much!!

Here is another keeper...I've never seen a tole towel holder...I think you could probably use it to hold magazines as well...the roses are stunning!!

I'm in the process of building a pool (one day I'll tell you the story of what an ordeal it has been) and this vintage lounge chair had to come home with me! Love it!!

I'm not really sure what this container is but the lid comes off...appears it could beverages of some sort because it's insulated inside...I bought it for the aqua color, rust and of course, the ROSES! Another keeper, sorry blogger friends.

This pink, yes PINK, Lloyd loom wicker chair is simply "fabby"...cushion needs to be recovered but that's an easy fix. She will be added to the store hopefully this week...if your interested, please let me know and you can pick out your own fabric.

This valance will also be added shortly...has lovely hand painted roses that was done by my dear friend Beth. She is ever so talented. If you look on our website you will see lots of other beautiful projects she's done as well...she and I are partners in the ShabbyVilla.

This pink dresser is ooh so very cute...lots of chippiness and gotta love those glass knobs...yep, she's also being added to our site.

And, here is a project that I'm almost finished with. I added this lovely fabric to this wicker couch...ooh, I wish I had a spot for this in my house. But, my loss is your gain...it's being added to the store this week (hopefully)!

Welcome to our blog. We're glad you could stop by and visit with us. Since opening our store in December we have received several questions from our customers as to whether we would start a blog...so here it is!! We hope to offer you a glimpse of merchandise we will be offering in our store in addition to providing you pictures of treasures we find along the way. Plus, once a month, we have a barn sale and will share pictures of some of the wonderful treasures. So, kick back and enjoy the ride with us...we are new at this blog thingy so I'm sure we are going to make some blunders along the way!!

I added these adorable rose plates to our website and have many more that will be added this week. I posted it here so I could fiddle with adding photo's. For you experienced bloggers out there any guidance you have for us would be really appreciated.
